This new, cross-curriculum workbook offers a colorful introduction to Native American culture, emphasizing Natives respect for all of Gods creatures. Using the powwow as a teaching tool, the book features eighteen (18) original full-page images to color of powwow dancers dressed to symbolize animals, created by a Native artist. The accompanying text reveals the human traits Natives attribute to each animal. Also included are a crossword puzzle, word search and other activities created under the supervision of an elementary school teacher, who holds a Masters in Education. Enrichment may be gained by attending one of the many powwows held each year across the country (see www.powwows.com). The child can then create a scrapbook incorporating favorite images from the book, along with photos from the powwow and a write-up of their experience there.
